Here are some examples of how you can take the original Premium Designer kit and give it a whole new look. I teach my students that they can make an original pen kit design 3 times and then they must make it different. The photo on the left is the original Premium Designer. The next one shows that the gold cap was replaced with one made from the cut-off piece of the pen blank. The third photo shows the original center band is gone and the upper barrel has been accented to look like a center band. The upper barrel was cut to reveal the gold coupler as an additional detail. The upper barrel is also sometimes left a bit longer to cover the coupler The last photo shows another example of a turned cap.

This is an acrylic screwdriver keychain. The bits magnetically insert in the tool. All bits are stored inside.

Turning was not very good as the blank had crushed rock powder making it very hard and prone to chip. But I love the finished product.

In order to get more orange from the blank, I used a propane torch to speed up oxidation. Loved the way it worked.

My only regret was not painting the tube. It shows through the blank a little bit but it didn\'t ruin the overall look.

Lots of pot marks had to fill in the blank because of flower petals. But it\'s smooth now and looks great.
